We didn't expect such a pretty site on our way from ridgecrest to bakersfield. In Europa a lake like this would be a true touristic highlight, and crowded. Not here: hardly any people, no Infrastruktur like restaurants, shops. ..

Lake is not very pretty, but best of few options. Southside of lake pretty nasty with lots of algae. Best spot we found was near Hungry Gulch campsite. Gets a little crowded

Beautiful lake on the drive to Kernville. I would especially recommend driving some of the minor highways in the area that allow you to see the lake from a direction you don't normally get. When you get close to the lake, it doesn't look quite...More

It was a hot weekend in Kern County, but as the sun starts to cast the long shadows on the other side of the mountains, a cool breeze starts to blow, the lake ripples and we just sat back with some wine and enjoyed the...More

The lake itself is not something very special but the road towards it and afterwards is really worth driving. Highly recommended!

Lake Isabella is a wonderful place to camp, and for recreation. I highly recommend it for anyone. The waters a little low, but still a beautiful spot.

I moved here 15 years ago because of the lake and great local history of the area.. Too many years without decent water level and activities. GONE is the lake, only a almost dried out desert.. no decent fishing.. and it will take more than...More

After 4 years of drought, the lake is finally looking good. We were there over the 4th and there were plenty of tourists and locals all over the place. Nice to see after several dry years.
