If you are looking for an easy starter trail for off roading that has great views this is your trail. Very easy going with only a few rocky spots here and there. There is a jive picnic area along the route about 7.5 miles into the trail at the top of the hill. If you are starting from the main... More

This trail was been extant since the late 19th Century. It is pristine and deserves respect and to be treated well. It is an ideal place to walk your dogs in sun or snow. The elevation is over 8000 feet and can be quite chilly. In the winter it can be a good ski trail and in summer a mountain... More

Beautiful views from the trail, forgot binoculars. : ( It was great anyway. Pennsylvania Gulch Road is only for serious off roaders (was white knuckle on PA Gulch Rd!) While on Swiss trail, caught a moose lying in a large puddle. He got up and took off but it was breathtaking to to him up close, if only for 10... More

This trail is drop dead gorgeous. Bring binoculars, as views are uniquely spectacular for distance. For you hikers, bikers, wheelers, riders, and especially, you botanists will find this trail cuts through unique biota that will give you a chance to easily examine geology and plants, that otherwise would require considerable effort. A local favorite. Easy access to the botany, views... More

You will love this trail if you are a nature lover. Scenery for days. The only thing to warn you about are some blind hairpin turns and definitely not for lower stance cars. We have a jeep and drove over quite a few boulders jutting out of the road. It is also very narrow, can be a little hairy trying... More

Taking the trail in four wheel gives you a glimpse of what it would have been like by train. The views are spectacular.

This is one of the few trails that are open year-round in the area and is relatively flat. With a lifted jeep it was a fun trail in the snow but wouldn't be a good idea for a small car or a biker if any snow is on the ground.

The Switzerland Trail is the old route the railroad used to get up to the mines of yesterday. The tracks have been removed making a fun trail to explore wit a high clearance vehicle. You can start above Gold hill, off Peak to Peak hi way or through Four mile canyon. Great place just to escape suburbia and camp or... More

If you exit Boulder on Mapleton Ave and come onto Sunshine Canyon Dr, you'll have a almost continuous climb into the town of Gold Hill. You'll eventually make a left onto Switzerland trail. The ride is technically easy and the views are breathtaking. Bike up to the Sugerloaf Mtn. where you can either follow the trail towards the peak-to-peak highway... More

Beautiful area, the trail is well kept and very easy. We took our jeep but a car would make it through.
