We went to the museum inside that had a variety of weather displays. Worth going to especially if you have kids. The views from outside in the back of NCAR are very nice and can be revisited at different times of the day to see how the sun and shadow affect the view. Behind NCAR are the Flatirons and in... Boulder is just so very remarkably forturnate to house these stunning houses of research into our very planet and the fabric of interdependent life. NCAR will show you some of this with terrific visual displays. Don't forget to look out the windows! Go up to the cafeteria, and eat lunch reflecting on what you've seen while resting your eye on... The photography and the exhibits are wonderful, fantastic, even. Adults, kids ... a must see for everyone. Up in the front range foothills, the outside view is unforgettable. Bring your camera

This was quite an interesting place - very educational inside and very unpretentious. It took a bit to figure out where to go inside. It really is a working lab and the public can walk around some of the front rooms and exhibit areas on a self-guided tour, so to speak. There are some very good videos to watch as... More

A double treat. The buildings are a masterpiece of mid-century modernism by the internationally acclaimed architect I. M. Pei. Inspired by his visit to the ancient cliff dwellings at Mesa Verde, Pei created a facility that is now recognized as an international treasure. Walk up into the central courtyard and check out the way he framed the views. When you... More

This excellent Federal Center for atmospheric research is definitely worth a visit if you or your family are interested in the causes of hurricanes, tornadoes or just the weather that you might experience at home. Guided tours are available (check schedule) or you can just wander the halls and read the informative posters or interact with the cloud machine. The... More

It's very scenic on the way to NCAR and at the top, you get a nice view of Boulder city. You can take kids inside to see how tornadoes are created along with few other educational displays. Outside the building is a nice 10minute stroll and you can also start the Mesa trail from here. It has ample parking so... More
