County Boy will survive

Me and my daughter had a great time at the County Boy Mine! It was like 15° but inside the mine it stays 48° So it’s warm in winter and cool in summer. The staff was all very friendly and informative. We also had lots of fun panning afterwards finding Pyrite and Copper pieces. We’ll definitely go back for a summer tour!

Family Had a Blast!

This was an awesome activity for my family of 4! Our twins are 14 and its unusual to find something our son and daughter both love. This was fast, however we felt safe doing it with helmets. So fun to race down the trail and get videos/pics of the views.
Highly recommend this as something fun/different to do outside of skiing or boarding.

There is a reason they call it ‘extreme’ sledding.

There is a reason the title is ‘extreme’. if you have the need for speed, this is the experience for you! Fun, family friendly - although I would say better for older kids than little ones. if you’re old enough to remember the Flexible Flyer wooden sled with metal rails, this is that on steroids. The staff was all super friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Would definitely put this on my list to do if we come back for another winter time trip!

Lots of fun, on-time and cheap for the area

Lots of fun, rent the helmets to ensure the protection if you don’t already have them. The rides down the hills take about 1.5 minutes I’d estimate. It goes pretty quick and somewhat depends on how much you “brake” with your feet. My teenage son and I had a blast, in fact he said it was the surprise fun of the trip. The 3 times down took about 45 minutes total. Really at about $41 per person, this is some good fun, that for Breck is pretty cheap. Quick and easy drive to it from Breck. Staff were all friendly. There was a moose at the mountain, but we missed seeing it.

Perfect family outing!

We LOVE country boy mine! This was our second trip and got to do the sleigh ride, mine tour, and extreme sledding! It is our favorite place because EVERYONE in our family enjoys it. The service is amazing and the miners are so knowledgeable about the area. The extreme sledding is a blast; our family ranges from 6 to 66 years old and everyone loved it! Also the donkey is adorable.

A must-do in Breckenridge!

We had such a good time! You get to go down the hill (about 6/10 of a mile) three times. You definitely catch some speed going down hill.

I plan on bringing my family in a few weeks. Is March a good month to visit the mine? Having endured the bomb cyclone down in Manitou Springs last March and actually enjoying our time, we're up for almost anything. Can we purchase tickets to visit the mine online or do we purchase them in person? Do you offer Veterans discounts? Looks awesome and can't wait. Thank you in advance.

Hi, I agree that your child would likely be fine in a front carrier, just make sure you wear shoes with good tread so that you don't slip. On our tour the guide demonstrated the "widow-maker" power drill which was quite loud and would definitely startle a young child, (plus may not be good for hearing). You could request that they not do this, or let you walk out prior to the demonstration. If you decide not to go inside the mine, the other exhibits, gold-panning, and the view are also worth the visit.

I have claustrophobia. I have seen some reviews that say definately do not do this tour and others that say it wasnt that bad. Any opinions?

Hi Paul, come and see! We have had people with Claustrophobia who have really enjoyed the tour. The mine shaft has good head/width space and our experienced tour guides will do all they can to make you feel comfortable. If you decide that it is not something that you can do, we have gold panning in the creek and we are surrounded by spectacular views and walks. We look forward to seeing you......Sue
