We stopped here on a road trip and it was closed. When I looked it up I did not see anything about it being seasonal. We were still able to look in the windows and read the signs. I think it would be really cool to see when it was open and running.

This beautiful Kit Carson County Carousel is definitely worth a visit. Though it is only open for a few months it can be seen through a large viewing window in the beautifully designed white building that houses it even when it is not able to be touched! The grounds surrounding the carousel are nice to walk around, as the setting... More

Great ride for all ages! There is even a spot to have a picnic! Rides are at the top of the hour and the bottom of the hour for a quarter. Goes fast. Great story of how it came to be in Burlington from Elitch Gardens in Denver. Well worth your stop and spending time here. Be sure to tour... More

A great place to take kids for a look back into time. We were the only ones there on a Sunday afternoon in November. The lady at the desk said we could walk around at our discretion and take our time. Very helpful and caring to ensure a good time.

As a kid, we would visit Colorado about twice per year. One time was during the Kit Carson County Fair. My favorite thing in the world was to ride the carousel. I am now 65 years old, and in August we visited the carousel. What an amazing experience. The animals, the music, etc. is all just as I remembered. What... More

My 7 year old son and I decided to stop here while heading back to Texas from a Colorado vacation. I had read some reviews of it prior to the trip, but the reality of it is way better. A true historical gem in a nice small eastern Colorado town on the Kansas border. It felt like stepping 100 years... More

Located at the Kit Carson County fairgrounds, this carousel was manufactured in 1905 for Elitch Gardens, an amusement park in Denver. It operated there until 1928, when it was sold to Kit Carson County for $1200, including delivery to Burlington. This carousel was manufactured by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company. It is a three-row, stationary (the animals do not move up... More

We travel to visit carrousels all over the world and this is the very best old school carrousel period! The restoration of this 1905 carrousel is truly amazing. The unbelievable animals, the sound system, and the art was beyond all expectations. Be sure to Shang on at full sired you're going 10-12 miles per hour. Only a 2.5 hour drive... More

This was our second time to visit this carousel. Amazing piece of history. Wooden carousel from early 1900s and it costs you 0.25 cents to ride! This is a must see if you are in the area!

This was a fantastic unscheduled stop also. The museum was small but very informative and the high light of this stop was getting to ride on the Carousel itself! The conductor was very informative and it only cost 25 cents to ride 4 minutes with original music playing!
