This review starts the day before the tour. We got off to a rocky start the day before because we had to contact the operator to let the operator know where our hotel was. Fortunately, our hotel called the operator for us. After being told pick up was no problem, that evening, right before bed, we received a call at our hotel saying that we needed to pay more money for pick up from our particular hotel because it was on the out edge of town. I explained that the advertisement says anywhere in the Fortuna region, and we were paying quite a bit for the tour already. So, after a bit of a disagreement and back and forth, they finally agreed to not charge us more. Not a great way to start out the trip.
A nice English-speaking guide came with a driver to pick us up, but the guide left us after 20 minutes with the Spanish-only speaking driver. Fortunately, I speak Spanish. The driver was very nice. We were then dropped off at the white water tubing place. They did not speak any english, which was concerning since the ad said we would have the tour in english. Fortunately, again, I speak Spanish, so it was not a problem.
The tubing on Rio Celeste was beautiful, the guide was helpful and kept us safe through all the rapids. It was really fantastic.
After rafting, we had the most amazing home cooked lunch at the tubing outfitter's place.
After lunch, we were taken by our driver to the chocolate farm. The guides were great, informative, and entertaining. Those guides spoke 100% english.
Overall, we had a wonderful time. I would recommend this tour, but caution people to expect that the first part of the day will not happen in English.
