I was not sure if taking our 7 year old son in the rain to do this hike was a good idea. In the end, it was. It took us less than an hour and half to hike/walk to the waterfall and back. On the way, we saw lots of wildlife. The trail is very easy to navigate and gravel... More

We are so glad we took this hike. It was a beautiful day and the river was amazing. Our guide was patient and very thorough. The trail was pretty steep at times so you need good shoes and must be in reasonable good shape to enjoy the hike. We saw plenty of wildlife and were thrilled with the trip. I... More

A trip to the Arenal region of Costa Rica would not be complete without a visit to Tenorio Volcano National Park, and especially the Rio Celeste portion of the park. Aside from the stunningly lush rainforest, the blue waters of Rio Celeste are a rare sight indeed to behold. Although it may seem to be a small or trivial matter... More

They say that when God painted the skies, he dipped his paintbrush in Rio Celeste. I would imagine this to be true on the sunniest, blue, cloud-free sky.

Fantastic place to visit while in CR. We did a lot of hiking into beautiful waterfalls and "Azul waters" at a private little park for six dollars we were able to hike down and swim in the blue waters and loved every minute of it. We will definitely go back.

We had the misfortune of coming to the rain forest and rainy season and caught the Rio Celeste on a week where it had been a constant downpour. That being said the river was still beautiful and in some spots very blue. A friend of mine had come to the river a week before me and has pictures of the... More

If you stay in the Rio celeste hotel surrounded by all kinds of amazing wildlife! We were followed by Capuchin monkeys, watched a lizard pounce on a caterpillar and marvelled at the hummingbirds

I would not recommend the walk if you are not very fit as, with the humidity, unpaved path and steps it is exhausting.

What a work out! We stopped at Tenorio on our roadtrip from Guanacaste to San Jose. After roughly 2 hr drive and a long 7-10 km rocky unpaved neverending road, we arrived. We paid 1,000 colones to park and 8,400 colones to enter the park (or $12 USD) It took us about 2. 5 hours to complete the entire hike.... More
