My friend loves mines so I was dragged along. It was a great audio tour - around 30 minutes. Just about my limit for this sort of thing. I preferred to chat to the old husky guy at the gift shop. Now he must have...More

The mining museum/tour is a definite must-see when in Creede. I loved it. Dress warmly or borrow one of the many coats they've got available for tourists. I learned so much about mining. I think that families with children 8-12 would love it. I have...More

We have two kids - a 10 year old and a 5 year old. The 5 year old is a typical antsy boy and he was enthralled with this for the entire 35-40 minutes. Both the kids and us adults were impressed and would recommend...More

The only inside a mine quilt exhibit takes place in September. Tour the mine in a well lighted flat wide shaft to learn the history of mining. Feed UNSALTED nuts to the many chipmunks who hang out at the intrance. And, enjoy the rest of...More

Relatively short walking tour. You can get a guide if you want, think about 12.00 per person. We opted for the audio tour which I think did an excellent job at 6.00 per person. You will probably need a jacket as the temperature is a...More

To understand Creede you have to understand a bit about mining and this walk through self-guided tour underground is wonderful. It familiarizes you with mining methods from 1890 to today. It takes maybe 20 minutes and is so worth it!

The Underground Mining Museum is a great stop. It is loaded with information about the history of mining in the Creede area. Try to catch one of the tours guided by a local miner.

You never know what to expect with small museums, but this one was excellent. The former miner was very knowledgeable and friendly and answered questions afterwards. The displays were well done. Be warned...It's underground so dress warm!
