A key feature in the Denver skyline because of its gold bell-shaped dome, the Capitol Building, fittingly in the Mile High City, has a point located at exactly 5,280 feet above sea level. Free tours are available for visitors.

The free tour was worthwhile. Learned about the history of Denver, the architecture, and the state government. The tour allows you to climb up to the top, which has amazing views of the city. There's also a floor for museum displays and more historic information.

Took a tour of the building while visiting downtown. Very pretty building and our guide had lots of interesting information. We especially enjoyed going up into the dome and the views from there!

This is a beautiful building, and they've done an excellent job on the refurbishment of the dome and many interior spaces. There is lovely artwork throughout the building, as well as enviable architectural details. Pity about the politician infestation, though...

There are interesting art deco lights and we liked seeing the architecture. But really it was a bit disappointing. And do not go in the summer. It is not air conditioned. I do not know how the lawmakers can stand wearing their suits.

Beautiful, ornate building with rich history. Free tours. Great place to take out-of-town guests! You really must see this building!

If you walk around alone or if you go with one of the free guided tours (the latter is highly recommended), the Colorado State Capitol is impressive. So many stories, so much history - so interesting.

This is a beautiful building, and if you're really ambitious, you can climb all the stairs for great views. There is a mark on the steps to show the "mile high" point, which is fun. There was construction when we were there, which made finding...More

The State Capitol is a beautiful building. The park area around it is very nice. Lots of interesting buildings around. Lots of homeless people hanging around especially in the park.

There are public lots all around the capitol. Most are reasonably priced. If you're staying at one of the downtown hotels I would recommend catching the 16th Street Bus.
