Mount Evans scenic Byway is beautiful day trip. Try to go during the week as weekends can get really busy up there. I-70 getting up there also gets bogged down on the weekends. Well worth the trip, better with less traffic.

This is a beautiful, but scary drive if you're not used to driving through the mountain passes. Despite the 'scary' part of it, and the road condition not being the greatest, it is still worth the trip. The views are amazing. We visited towards the...More

We drive this once a year because it’s the best views in Colorado! Having lived in Colorado since 1966, I can say this is always worth the trip! Only place on earth you can see bighorn sheep and mountain goats in the same afternoon all...More

The drive is a bit scary but the views are well worth the drive. Echo Lake Park was one of our stops. Although the road leading up to Mount Evans was closed we still were able to see some beautiful scenery! I would recommend it!

Great day trip from Denver to get top of the world views via one of the highest paved roads in north America! Make sure to bring water to drink to offset the affects of the high elevation. Once at the parking area, you can hop...More

As you begin your trip stop at the Idaho Springs Visitor Center. You will get directions and up dates on road closures. The drive up the switch backs was enjoyable and we did pull off to take a few pictures. At about 10,000 feet is...More

The road is definitely not open to the summit. Not sure exactly how far up you can go right now though. You should be able to get to Echo Lake lodge and maybe summit lake. Stop in the visitors center in Idaho Springs and... More

No way to get to the top of Mt. Evans now, but you get pretty high (no pun) getting to the entrance. The drive is worth the time, and there are several places to pull over and hike.
