Hop aboard a coal-fired, steam-powered locomotive that travels along the same railroad tracks that miners, cowboys and the early settlers of the Old West used over a hundred years ago. The route winds in and out of canyons and past open wilderness affording great views. The price of a ticket also includes admission to the D&SNGRR Museum and the Silverton Freight Yard Museum.

This was so much fun! We were a group of 20 who took the four hour train ride to Silverton together, in a car with reserved seats, snacks and drinks. The attendant was a fabulous Gide, giving wonderful historical tidbits all along the trip. And...More

Serene ride with beautiful views. A bit slow in the last half of the ride, but the first half more than makes up for that. A must!

The views you get on your train ride are some the most breath taking you'll ever see. Silverton is such a great authentic western town. If always wondered what those towns are like you'll see it there. It's tuck back in the mountains and you...More

The trains are antiques. Ours broke down three times on the trip from Durango to Silverton. We finally had to be towed in by another engine. The trip took an two extra hours. We took the bus back from Silverton and the driver is required...More

We had a great ride on the train. Upgraded to the club car and glad we did. The service was excellent and they provided lunch and snacks. The views were fantastic and the trip to Cascade was just the right distance.

We all heard about this railroad as being "THE ONE" to take, so we did. As others have written, this uses 100 year old, coal fired steam engines, so you will be getting soot in your eyes at some time. As far as the ride...More

Very nostalgic, From the coal fired steam engine and it's puffing smoke and periodic jets of steam and period costumed staff to magnificient views of the mountains. From being on the river's edge to looking down the side of the mountain, it was both relaxing...More

Great scenery on this old narrow gauge steam train. They want you on board a half hour early basically to try to sell you stuff. That is a little tacky. Once the train leaves the station everything is fine. If I had it to do...More

It just rattles along at a slow pace, if your afraid on heights then don't look down when they follow the gorge with a long drop over the edge. Nice ride of several hours.
