Hop aboard a coal-fired, steam-powered locomotive that travels along the same railroad tracks that miners, cowboys and the early settlers of the Old West used over a hundred years ago. The route winds in and out of canyons and past open wilderness affording great views. The price of a ticket also includes admission to the D&SNGRR Museum and the Silverton Freight Yard Museum.

Always have wanted to ride an old steam train, to experience was life used to be like! The train itself is very cool, but it is a long ride, and very bouncy. If you take the trip, do like we did-- ride the train from...More

Great views, good fun! We loved the open window car! Did wish there was more snow, but can't help that. Less crowded on weekdays - we went on a busy Sunday.

This is a great time! We rode in the Alamosa Parlor Car. It is a nice car with comfortable seat, it's own bar, and it's own bathroom. It has an area on the rear of the car that you can step out on and take...More

We decided to take the train because some of our other plans had fallen through. Boy we were glad we did. It was one of the best things we did on the trip. Amazing views. Felt like we went back in time. Highly recommend

Not just for kids, although we came here for our grandson. This was really enjoyable and our grandson loved it, as well as we did. Defiantly a must do! Great ride and entertainment. Would ride again.

Did not take the railway, but will next time. Loved the museum. Great exhibits, and fun to take pictures in front of old trains. Wish we had actaully gone from Durango to Silverton on the narrow gauge railway, but that can be next time.

Best Vacation Yet! Too short though! We will be back this spring. Staff were very friendly. They need to clean up from around the rail road track, they have a small fortune of spikes and rail laying all over the place, not sure the owners...More

I was worried I'd be bored after a while, and would be itchin' to get off the train. I was not. We had the last car, and the best service. I will go again in the summer time so I can do the whole ride...More
