Hop aboard a coal-fired, steam-powered locomotive that travels along the same railroad tracks that miners, cowboys and the early settlers of the Old West used over a hundred years ago. The route winds in and out of canyons and past open wilderness affording great views. The price of a ticket also includes admission to the D&SNGRR Museum and the Silverton Freight Yard Museum.

The train ride covers some gorgeous scenery and beautiful areas of Colorado. I'm not a huge fan of trains, and didn't want to be cooped up in the cars aboard the train, so we opted to drive the route. We were able to park on...More

Visited some friends in northern New Mexico and we went to Durango. What an exciting, thrilling, amazing, spectacular viewing, trip. It was awe inspiring to look down into the gorge as the train travelled. A truly wonderful excursion.

Very popular and nostalgic. Fun, scenic way to spend the day. So much history in the area. Lots to explore in the surrounding area.

We took the bus up to Silverton and the train back to Durango. We recommend that approach because 8 hours on the train would be too long; passengers who took train both directions seemed exhausted and bored by end of day. The bus/train option provides...More

Fun experience, beautiful scenery, entertaining and knowledgeable staff. You can move around and they have snacks and beverages ( non-alcohol and alcohol). We rode both ways which was a little long - I would suggest riding one way and taking the bus back.

Park right next to the train station. Get there early. The cost is $8 to park. Well worth the price to be close.
