Beautiful!

We hiked in the San Juan Forest using the Lower Hermosa Creek Trail and really enjoyed the views, there were minimal people on the trail, and flowers were popping out.

If you like hiking and having the availability of lots of varied terrain then you would enjoy the forest trails in the area. You can find trails that are perfect for the entire family or mountain bike a challenge or climb rock formations.

I live 20 minutes from the San Juan national forest and grew up in the magnificent area surrounding Durango Colorado. If you get the chance you need to experience the stunning beauty of this part of Colorado. From gurgling small mountain streams to the full roar of the Animas river in the spring runoff this area offers everyone a taste... More

We love the San Juans. It is a place that we hike, bike, camp, and ride our ATVs and UTVs. Take your camera as the sights are unbelievable and you will see wildlife. Spend more than a day or two in these beautiful mountains of Colorado.

I grew up camping in the San Juan National Forest and in my 20's, I backpacked in those beautiful mountains. Then took my 2 sons there to continue the tradition. Best memories!

Top 3 miles has been banned from 4 wheeler traffic because the Forest Dept. will not maintain Road so they just closed it. At nearly 60 years old, I will never be able to share the lookout with my grandchildren or their children. The funds alloted for road improvements in this forest all ends up in Park County to the... We are local to Durango and go into the San Juan Mountains at least once a month, often more than once a week.

We did this in the winter so it was a bit scary drive but the views are amazing! The twisty roads and gorgeous scenery make me wish we lived closer so could visit more often.
