A good hiking trail!

A good hiking trail. We climbed up and then crossed over where we could see the reservoir. Then we walked out on the horse tooth falls side. Good trails for the dogs.

We went hiking at Horsetooth over the Thanksgiving day holiday. While the parking is fairly limited, the hiking trails are great. We really enjoyed it.

This is my favorite place in the Fort Collins area. The picnic grounds are a great spot and even on busy holiday weekends you can get a table. The Sunrise Picnic spot has swimming and easy put in for stand up paddle boards, kayaks or canoes. There are grills but we usual bring our own portable gas grill. This is... More

Our family stopped very briefly to enjoy the views and take pictures. It was really beautiful. Would like to return to comment on the camping and fishing.

We wanted to drive around the reservoir and saw several nice picture spots. Signs indicate you can only enter the parking lot if you have a paid permit. We proceeded to enter as we were already entering when we read the sign and there was plenty of parking to stop for a few pics. Seems the majority of the people... More

Our daughter took us up to visit horsetooth reservoir at sunrise. The area is just beautiful. Peaceful, clean, well designed parking areas and walkways. Wish we had more time, but we were flying out of CO that morning. Maybe next time....

The best thing about my trip to Horsetooth was that my wife and I hiked it on a weekday. There were not a lot of people hiking, so that was nice. I imagine that on the weekends this may not be the case. We went in August so it was pretty dang hot. This is not way up in the... More

We hiked the horsetooth falls trail and it was great! It says it's an easy hike but just make sure you have hiking shoes on, don't try to go in regular sneakers. There are some sections where you need the extra grip on the rocks other than that it was a nice hike. It was great in the morning because... More

My first visit to Horsetooth was a swim........arriving before sunrise, and going to the south-west end...well, great views! Parking was somewhat limited, but have been back this Fall, and was, of course, much better. The Reservoir changes....with the seasons, with the water levels....but it is always interesting! Will be back OFTEN!

This park and the adjoining Lory State Park offers a diverse playground for hiking, trail running or mountain biking. The trail system almost surrounds the park. Most extensive on west and north side of resevoir and includes areas along the eastern edge of Horsetooth resevoir offering beautiful vies of Ft. Collins for day or evening activities. Miles of beautiful trails... More
