The Poudre is a delightful river Cascading out of the Rockies. Lots of places to stop and enjoy. Try Verne's in LaPorte for lunch.

We went down the river whitewater rafting. The views were stunning! We ran the last part in a bit of rain, but that does not dampen the beauty of this place.

My son and I floated inner-tubes down the Cache La Poudre River outside of Ft Collins recently. (Aug 6 2016) On an overcast day, and the temperatures hovering about 75, it made for a cold float! But well worth it! Both my 12 year old...More

Astounding Canyon, but I'd rather not bike it. Not much in the way of ridable shoulder and there's a lot of heavy traffic and tight corners. This is a tight canyon much of the time. To hike you really have to get away from the...More

Driving West out of Fort Collins on Highway 14 you travel right along the Cache La Poudre River. The river has cut a beautiful canyon through the foothills and mountains. The Cache La Poudre is classified as the only wild and scenic river in Colorado....More

If you want a mountain cayon experience that would be what you would have experienced 40+ years ago, then this is it. Unspoiled by tourist traps, you will find 'resorts', with cabins, and lodge feel. If you are looking for fancy, this isn't it. It's...More

Went on a group ride up to Cameron Pass and it was a good ride. They do have some loose rock over oil for about 11 miles so if you are afraid of rocks on the rode don't go. If you want to eat, there...More

This river surprised us! Was an excellent, exciting 8 miles! If you like to white water raft, this one was at the top of my list of the 7 rafting trips we've done.

Would like to make the drive.... However, I do have fears of steep (no railing) winding mountain roads. Is this a stress free drive with wide two lane road s. Curious! Thanks!

In my opinion, the Poudre is an easier drive. Not like the Big Thompson or Rocky Mountain National Park. Yes, it is a 2 lane road. I think it is less stressful. You often see Hummingbirds. Hopefully, it works for you.

Is this a "white knuckle" drive like Trail Ridge with shear drop-offs?

Sorry, just saw this. No, not at all. There are a few parts you have to slow down more for the bends in the road, but stretches of pasture between the mountains. You are more likely to see wildlife easily in the Poudre... More

Are there any guided whitewater rafting trips Sept. 11 or 12th 2015? Looks like most places close down by Labor Day. Thanks.

Good question. I'd contact the companies directly for that answer. They have a set schedule but conditions can cause changes.
