My wife and I took an hour long tour of the Healy House Museum and Dexter cabin while in Leadville, Co. It is well worth the tour, lots of History and interesting items to hear about and actually see what the guide was talking about.

Typical historical home in Leadville. One of the main issues is that they only have one piece of furniture that is original to the home. The guide did not talk much, so the tour was rather brief.

I have visited this museum several times and was quite impressed at the quality of all the details of this museum. Of all of the museum in Leadville, this is one of the top three I recommend visiting for the rich history of the house.

This is a great place for history buffs. I've been on the tour 3 times - twice I've taken friends. The tour is led by various volunteers. Some are a little better but all are knowledgable. The cost is $6 for adults, $5.50 for seniors. The tour lasts an hour to 2 hours depending on the guide. The Dexter "Cabin"... More

Step back in time for an hour with a Healy House tour guide. My docent, Crystal, was a walking encyclopedia. As she led our group through each room of the cabin and the museum, she shared about Leadville history, customs of the wealthy in the late 19th century, how boarding houses worked, school teachers, and much more. The buildings include... More

The cabin and house are both a treasure to go thru. We learned a lot from our guide. This is a must - buy a Leadville passport. It gets you into most of the major attractions. You can buy this at any of the museums except the Tabor Opera House (if you are lucky enough to be there when it's... More

It was fun to see items from everyday life in this lovely home, and have a docent who told us about the items and the people who owned them with nary a note. This was a thorough tour!

The main Healey House chockablock full of fun antiques and period pieces. Each room unveiled new and often wonderful surprises. Our guide was exceptionally knowledgeable and comfortable in answering all our questions. Then we went to the Dexter Cabin. Ever hear the phrase "don't judge a book by its cover?" Well, the Dexter Cabin is a classic example of this.... More

As with any guided tour much of the enjoyment depends on the facility and the guide. This is one of the few museums that allow you to get up close to items, clothing, wall coverings, etc. We learned the history of Leadville, the Dexter Cabin and the Meyer (now called Heally) house from a delightful School Teacher. Don't miss this... More
