Roxborough State Park is truly a hidden gem that must be experienced in-person to fully appreciate all that it has to offer. Gate is attended by a Park Ranger who collects entrance fees and is available in case of emergency. Roxborough is known for its...More

If you like Red Rocks, you will like Roxborough State Park. One of many good reasons to buy an annual park pass. Different difficulty levels of hiking make this a perfect place for a brisk stroll or a climb up a mountain trail. The various...More

This is a wonderful place to hike especially with children. During a hike some children came across a snake which they believed to be a Rattlesnake. Upon approaching the snake I knew it was a Bull Snake. Due to my prior experience with reptiles I...More

Gorgeous part of the country. The red rock formations are simply awe inspiring. Backs up to Pike’s Peak National Forest. And after the visit head to Arrowhead Golf Course where you can get a great meal & carry on enjoying the views.

Awesome park with easy trails. Definitely do the loop and make it up the Lyon Lookout - worth it! :) It was beautiful in the winter and we can only imagine it’s beauty in the summer! Add to your list!

I was in Denver for the holidays and was looking for a good hike within 2 hours of Denver. Someplace that I could feel “away from it all” but also feel safe hiking alone. I had originally planned on Rocky Mt National Park, but it...More

We used to walk here all the time with our kids. It is a great park but it does not allow dogs. I believe this is because of the wildlife (and you do see deer regularly) so there is a good reason but beware before...More

This local state park is great for families or those who want to experience Colorado hiking without traveling far from the city. Great vistas. As some have commented one does need to be aware of their environment as there is wild life and poison oak...More

Over 300 million years in the making! The 60 degree slat from the sandstone Red Rocks are some of the most dramatic tucked away in these Colorado Hogbacks along the Rampart Range! Unlike Red Rocks Ampitheater, this remains in its natural state. There are many...More

There is not a tram ride around the park. For older visitors, you might try the Fountain Valley Trail - that is considered one of the easiest, but please keep in mind this is a real hiking trail - not a paved walk. For... More
