We have often hiked this trail. It is too hot in the summer but nice as an off season hike. The best part is that one can make this a long day or just a short hike. Since the trail was extended beyond toward Fort Collins there are lots of options.

Good views and great rock formations are the key attractions to this particular hike. At point the valley both on the East and West are visible. The trail runs mainly on the East side of the ridge.

The Devils Backbone hiking trail is located west of Loveland in the foothills. It's an easy hike with views of open prairies as well as mountains. There are bathrooms and ample parking at the trailhead and a few picnic tables nearby. In the summer you have to keep an eye out for rattlesnakes. Always carry drinking water. This trail actually... We were pleasantly surprised by this trail. This area has miles of well-maintained trails, and is not crowded. Watch for deer and other wildlife. The keyhole is the perfect place for photos. This might not be a good trail for hot summer days because it's exposed. The various loops accommodate people of varying abilities.

My wife and I stopped in to this park out of curiosity on our way back to the airport. We got out and did a short hike, but had to get back to the airport, so we had to cut it short. I know we will definitely be back to hike here again. It was beautiful.

This is a great place to take your out-of-town friends and family who want to get just a little exercise. After the initial walking up slope, you will be treated to a fabulous panorama of the rock formation called 'Devil's Backbone.' You can turn around any time or keep on going. Great if you just want a 30-45 minute walk... More

You can tell a great Trail when it's clean, well marked and history is posted. Obviously in December we found some parts with ice but we were prepared. They were runners, babies in strollers, children, grandparents and just walkers. We loved the map of the peaks and names of them. Some walkers had canes/walking sticks. There was many spots to... This is an easy hike, but be warned to bring water especially if you hike this in the summer. There is no shade. The backbone is so cool and makes for fabulous photos. Make sure to go up to the keyhole and take pictures of the front range. This also makes an excellent moonlight hike.

This is a beautiful area just west of Loveland and we've enjoyed a couple hikes here. There are trails that are distinctly for foot traffic, bikes or both which is a great concept. However, we did find that they're not always well marked from both directions and we ran into some VERY crusty bikers the last time we were out... More
