We decided to buy tickets for the cog railway instead of driving to the summit. This was a great ride. The views were amazing. We were fortunate to have seats at the end of the two cars so we had fantastic views going up and...More

The cog railway is the best way to see the top of Pikes Peak along with beautiful views. The ride is about 1 1/2 hours each way. Tickets should be purchased in advance. We purchased our a month in advance, but their website mentions 3-5...More

Pikes Peak, "America's Mountain" is something I had heard about since childhood...I always wanted to go the "Peak". The Cog Railway seemed the perfect solution You are encouraged to buy overpriced snacks before taking the one hour and a half ride up the mountain, and...More

I'm afraid of heights but decided to face the fear. Well worth it for the views. At times it was VERY scary. If afraid of heights there will be times you will not want to look out the window but getting to the top is...More

It was indeed a very beautiful train ride up Pike's Peak with panoramic views at the top, but the excursion itself felt underwhelming. The cabins were quite crammed since it's a popular attraction, so, not sure that is a valid comment, and the time spent...More

The railway made it very easy to reach the summit. The conductor did a great job of combining facts and humor as we rode, and the views on the way up and down were incredible, possibly better than the views from the top.The only drawback...More

We enjoyed our trip to the summit of Pike's Peak. We ended up missing our first 1:20 train because we were stuck in traffic and the staff (especially the manager) was more than accommodating. He offered to refund us or get us on a later...More

I don't know why you would drive up to the summit when you can enjoy a ride on the cog train. No way was I driving up there, the train is the way to go! We had front row seats, great photos with expansive views,...More

When in Colorado Springs, how do you not take the cog railroad that's been taking people up to Pikes peak for more than 125 years? The narration is great. Killer views keep coming -- turn after turn after turn. The food and gift shop at...More

How is the weather at the top about 5:30 lately, this is June 12th and our plan was to get tix for June 24 but you are sold out 😫and we are coming all the way from Miami Florida. So we saw there's a 4:00 train on Friday which would put us at the top about 5:15. Definitely a crimp in our total plan but any feedback on that 5:30 time frame at the top this time of year?

Hi there, Thank you for contacting us with your question. It is usually 30-40 degrees cooler at the Summit than down here in Manitou Springs. If you are taking the 5:20 pm train the temperature at the Summit will probably... More

I see you can purchase food before you go up.... Can you eat the food on the train on the way up? Do you save it for the top or what? Also can you bring your own water bottles?

I am wondering if we would have to make train reservations for a party of 10? We're driving up from the Denver area beginning of June to do the train ride up to the summit. Thanks!

Thank you for contacting us with your question! I would definitely recommend making a reservation at least 3 to 4 weeks in advance as June starts our busiest season. We are open 7 days a week from 8am to 4pm, give us a call... More
