My friend wanted to ski the old pass road, which runs through some pretty forest. I had a thermos and sandwich in the car. It's very pretty here and worth a stop. Unfortunately a couple of snowmobilers also stopped by making a horrendous noise and...More

We were stopping every few minutes for another spectactular view, particularly of the autumn colours in the aspen. We weren't as impressed with the gift shop as other reviewers (terrible coffee but clean toilets). It was disappointing that the gondola had closed for the year,...More

The summit of the Monarch Pass on Route 50 is at 11,312 feet and is at the watershed between the Pacific and the Gulf of Mexico. There is a cable car ride giving access to even loftier views over the mountains and forests.

High in the mountains. In fall aspens are beautiful. Scenery is what's here. Snowmobiling and skiing in winter. Gift shop at peak.

We missed a stop at Monarch Pass on our way through last year, so it was on our list for our Salida trip this year. My parents loved the gondola ride, and my daughter and I enjoyed our trek towards the old pass, even though...More

Colorado has so many beautiful and awesome mountain passes they are all great in their own special way. We need to enjoy them but protect them for many generations to come. Take a ride on the pass and enjoy..

As a person from the South, we rarely see a measurable amount of snow. Our family enjoyed seeing the snow (7ft deep) and majestic mountains.
