The trail we took followed along the river. We had kids from 10 years old to 60 and we all enjoyed it. This was the only place we hiked that didn't have a restroom.

Family with three young children... trail was about 1/2 mile long. Some parts of the trail were extremely narrow with steep drop offs. However, being careful, all of us had a great hike. The views of the falls and the mountains were gorgeous!

I have hiked along the trail and fished many times. This is a great trail. A little outside of town but worth the trip.

This is a beautiful hike with a nice swift waterfall at the end. The drive to the trail head is very scenic and there is ample parking next to the river. The hike is not that long and pretty easy. We enjoyed it a lot.

Following the river is fun and easy. Spectacular views while hiking an easy trail with the wife. Plenty of diversity for viewing the natural world. Can be enjoyed by all fitness and experience levels. Highly recommended.

I do this hike every year. The scenery is fantasic along the Piedra river a little north of town. Although the road is dusty, just the drive to the trail is wonderful. It will get you to other trails, a lake and Piedra Falls, but...More

The drive to the trailhead is partly on paved and also dirt roads. When we went in June other than the dust it was no problem for a non four wheeler. The hike itself is varied and scenary spectacular from rushing river to alpine meadows....More

This trail is just 16 miles north of town on Piedra Rd. It is an easy go, suitable for hikers of all ages. I would guess we passed folks in their 70s and young families with small kids and babies in packs. The river is...More

There was snow along the trail in March, but it wasn't anything that hiking poles and spikes couldn't help with. The scenery was beautiful and the frozen waterfalls were incredible. We didn't see another person on the trail the afternoon we were there.

Great hike into a rocky canyon right on the river. If you have dogs, they love to play in the river along the way!

You could carry one in a carrier on your back quite a ways down the path, but I'd be careful allowing young ones walk on their on. There are some edges above the river early in the hike that wouldn't be advisable.
