Did this in a rental car, so don't tell company. Must have all or four wheel drive. We were very lucky as road mostly dry though some slush and melting snow high. Went from Ridgeway side to Telluride and very scary descent towards end as big wide trucks coming up. Would never go when wet and would want 4wd. I... More

My wife and I decided to take on this trail at the same time the area received its first snowfall which made a bit of a challenge. Overall all is a nice drive from Ridgway to Telluride. The only requirement for the road would be 4x4 if the roads are wet or in our case snow. Definitely not a technical... More

This is a wonderful way to see the country around the mountains. The views are amazing, particularly in the fall. Allow plenty of time to savor the sights. Be aware that the weather can close in VERY quickly and the mountains can be obscured by clouds/fog/snow. The road will also take the driver's full attention.

We had a great time traversing the Last Dollar Road. Although we took the wrong fork (needs to be better signage) and wound up in Sawpit instead of the longer way to Telluride, it was still a great little side trip. In fact, the photos I got of the Sneffels range, and Mt. Wilson in particular, were more than enough... More

This was a great excursion from highway driving. From ridgeway area into telluride. Unpqced most of the way. If it's dry, really any vehicle w decent clearance could do this. We were in an outback; no issues. There's exposed clay, so wet, maybe not. But the views and solitude out there are phenomenal. Get out of town, off the path,... More

A well maintained gravel road with phenomenal views of the Sneffels Mountains. It is beautiful anytime of the year, but particularly stunning during the fall foliage season the last two weeks of Sept.

This road goes through Aspen groves, pine forests and open fields. Views are breathtaking in numerous places, especially those of Mt. Wilson. It can get muddy in spots so 4wd and good tires are recommended.

My husband and I took at 6 day trip so he could photograph the San Juan mountains and other places. We were coming from Utah and started in Ridgeway. I am NOT a photographer so I'm sure that you can find even more great places to photograph but I was in awe. CR 7 - great camping place at the... More

Beautiful ride on our Can-Am Defender, off loaded from trailer on a wide area about 1/2 mile from highway 62. An 18+/- mile trip stopping many times enjoying the colors. To the T-ride airport was almost 3 hours, coming back not quite an hour. The road is fairly easy, (very easy in a UTV), as mentioned by others a bit... More

We drove toward Telluride from the turn-off a mile west of the Dallas Divide. The road is mainly a wide, smooth, graded, unpaved road through pretty country all the way to Sawpit. But what you want to do is turn left onto the road to Telluride, which is easy to miss. Where the wide road bends to the right, you... More
