This non-profit museum specializes in Western art.....sometimes that means Western subjects and sometimes it means Western artists. Basically they change exhibits twice yearly and have always done a good job curating interesting exhibits. There is no entrance fee, but donations are requested. Stop by and see the art up close and personal.

Museum is housed in a beautiful old building. We saw the plein air artists, capturing the various national parks. Free admission, with donation jar option. Gift shop next door has some fabulous items.

Nice event held every first friday. Free, friendly folks, lots of talent on these walls. Know folks who go every month! Even kids' works.

If you enjoy artwork by local artists, make sure to go by quickly as the museum is featuring an exhibition of plain air artwork that is painted on scene and in the outdoors by the artists, rather than in their own studios

SAM was one of the art venues open Friday night for the monthly Art Walk. All venues were within a few blocks--very walkable. SAM has a nice selection of art for sale as well as gifts. It's in an old bank building complete with vault. Worth a visit.

I've got some photos of the area for sale in the gift shop, but nonetheless, this is a great little art museum, with some really good paintings displayed. Steamboat is fortunate to have this community treasure right in the heart of downtown.

The museum has a beautiful exhibit of local artists. The first Friday of every month there is an "artwalk" in town and my favorite spot was the Steamboat Art Museum.

This is not our first visit since we are members. Just want everyone to know that this museum has very well know artists work being shown from private collections on exhibit over the years. Ranging from Western, Flowers, Portrait, even Russian Artists, Plein Air, Photos. They change exhibits about three times a year. There are three large rooms for each... More

Was lucky enough to be in steamboat for an exhibition opening here. 1 of the artists attended and the docents were excellent. Great sense that the community supported events.

Good exhibit well mounted. Descriptive information well written. Friendly docents, nice gift shop with unusual items. Since the exhibits are ever changing, we can go every time we visit Steamboat.
