Walk down a few steps by the side of the parking space to enjoy the breeze and waterfall sound. Most visitors will just stay at the photospot.

We stopped here on the way to Lake Toba and fortunately it was off-season so not many visitors were there. The falls were a magnificent sight but a long way down if you wanted to climb 700 steps to the bottom. Near the car park there were several warungs where you could eat and many souvenir shops selling the usual.

This is one of the most marvellous natural thing that I have seen. Its very big and very watery.
Worth a visit while you are on your way to lake toba.
Amazing place with stunning view. It is quite tiring to climb up and down but the beautiful scene worth all of the hard works.

It was a long journey from medan to reach the Sipiso piso waterfall.
But the trip was very interesting.
I enjoyed the farm areas at the Karo highland, fertile volcanic areas. You can also enjoy the spectacular view of Lake Toba from far distance and the Sipiso on the right side.

Currently they are some construction work for the staircase leading to the bottom of the waterfall. It was a quite tough walk/ hike to the bottom of the waterfall, you can have a better view of the water fall if you walk down the footpath.

Visited this place in the beginning of December, first sight when arrived at Waterfall is Amazing ,but when You get closer You will see how much Garbage on the right nd left side.
Ticket officers collect tickets not exactly at the entrance of the waterfall area, which when you pay for the ticket is only for the waterfall but not for other tourist attractions.
because there are still tourist attractions around it.

We drove from Samosir Island - used rental scooters from our accomodation (100k with full tank), took a ferry from Simanido to Tigaras (25k), from there it's 2hr drive, dress up - was quite cold. Waterfall area entrance 5k, parking 2k, view nice. Walk 20min down, 30min up. Nothing challenging if you know how to walk on stairs and you'r not wearing very unsuitable shoes, flipflops would be fine but not very comfortable. Waterfall not swimmable, very high pressure from water, you get wet just by walking to the pond. On the top some warungs to grab a meal. Interesting place, drive was not very scenic, you pass by some view points with cafes and instagram set ups.
We didn't go from parapat because I am scared of makaks and you would have to drive through monkey forest, they hang out around the road. Return by the same way, with better weather we would continue around the lake and return to Samosir via bridge at Pangururan (est. 3-4 hrs drive).

We called in here on our way to Lake Toba from Berastagi. It was a Monday, so it was quiet although we could imagine that on weekends or busy days it would be crammed. We walked down to the base of the waterfall - quite a long way down and so warm work on the way back up. The path is not in great condition and so care required. We enjoyed the work out. The waterfall itself is quite a spectacle and we were lucky enough to see it after a night of heavy rain.
