I've been by this busy park in summer, but got to experience it on a brisk spring day when the people and flowers were sparse. I didn't realize how much there is to see. There is something for everyone, from playground to Zen gardens. A wonderful rock garden was beginning to bloom with tundra flowers. Nice spot to visit if... More

I'm a sucker for a nice botanical garden. Besides appreciating the beauty, they are usually a great place for pictures. Since I was traveling with just my wife, I thought this would be a nice, romantic place to visit. Well, it definitely would have been, had my wife not been feeling the effects of altitude sickness. So she found a... More

I was here in September and it was lush and beautiful and I was here in March and still appreciated the sleeping terrain.

For something different during your time in Vail, visit the Alpine Gardens and go snowshoeing. Staff is very friendly and also offers guided tours once a week or you can do a self guided tour.

The Alpine Gardens are a great way to spend a sunny afternoon. Not only are the gardens surrounded by stunning mountain views, but the gardens themselves are very well kept, educational, and an overall fun experience. And the visit to the Gardens is topped off by a stop to the Education Center. What a great way to spend a day!... More

What a great place. So much information but very easy to take it in. A lot of interactive things for children. Didn't actually see the gardens as it was snowing but the model and pictures indicate that it would be well worth seeing.

Betty Ford garden in Colorado was small, but organized by habitat. Had a few special room-sized glens with plants that enhanced each other by color or form. There were small rock-garden hills and concentric circles of colors and other forms (eg fun frond ferns) that were just INTERESTING to look at or walk through. Tree areas for shade, open areas... This lovely guided snowshoe walk exceeded my expectations! It's scheduled Wednesday mornings at 10 AM. A fabulous volunteer, a master gardener herself, informed two of us on the walk about the various trees we were seeing, the different pinecones, needles and more. It was an especially stunning landscape after days of heavy snow and fun to see a variety of... More
