The Vail Bike Path does meander through Vail village along the creek (as many other reviewers have covered) which is very scenic. The path continues east out of town by the golf course and continues UP to Vail Pass (about 13-14 miles east of town)....More

I live in Copper mountain and ride this regularly. The path is wide, not crowded, lots of turns and hills - all with beautiful views!

The path is suitable for bikes or walking. I am not sure the length of the trail, but it will take you thru some very pretty areas.

We love walking this trail in the winter, with or without a lot of snow, with or without yak tracks and with or without snowshoes. Yet, if you go east to the golf course snowshoes or yak tracks may be helpful. Stop at the Betty...More

Oh yeah! Though there may be times that there are more riders than other times, I can't imagine there being so many riders that you would feel unsafe. The trail is wide enough to accommodate a large number of people.

I'll be visiting Vail in early January and staying at the Wren. I'd like to walk while my husband skis. Will the Recreation Path likely be open to casual walkers (I'm a fairly fit 69)? Where is the western end of it?
