We paid $31 for an electric site near the showers. The female ranger was very helpful in helping us pick a site. Hogback trial was very nice. There was a neat little rock formation between our campsite in the pinion campground and hogback trail.

The Pinon Campground is very clean and such a nice area. We played golf at the adjoining golf course and love that. Took a nice drive up to La Veta and Cuchara.

Fishing was next to impossible because the lake was high and there were several people there. We have visited before when the lake was lower and still had the same issue.

Lots of trails around the lake and the old boat dock is a great place to teach kids to skip rocks - just remember to not skip near people fishing! You don't want to interrupt their fun!

Lathrop is great for families! A 3 mile paved walking trail around the lake, fishing, boating, and a fun beach that has recently been expanded with covered picnic tables and bathrooms. One of our favorite State Parks! PS the camping is awesome too.

In Loop A, 25 through 36, Loop B, 53 through 56. These sites offer great views of the Spanish Peaks and the Cuchara Valley and LaVeta Pass.
