A lovely church in a beautiful location.
Aug 2021
The Cathedral of the Isles in Millport is a large, attractive church with extra buildings for the accommodation and teaching of visiting students. The grounds are most pleasant and the overall look of the place is smart and attractive.
Because of the current Covid threat however, the church is only open on Sundays for worship, and closed to the public at all other times.

I must say that I can see little sense in such a policy as there would almost invariably be much fewer people in the church as casual visitors than there would be at a service. I have visited several churches over the past few months and we have tended to be the only people there.

That said, we enjoyed our visit nevertheless and look forward to seeing the interior of the church at a later stage when church policy permits access.

The Perfect stay in Millport
Jul 2021
Just had to tell the world what a great location and venue this is. The building, the grounds, the rooms and location was exactly what we expected. However, the host Patrick, was fantastic in making all feel welcome and indeed serving the best breakfast in Scotland!! Cant wait to go back.

You find the friendliest of people here and it is the loveliest of buildings that really dominates the skyline with it's spire

Relaxing and unique
Oct 2019 • Couples
The view of the cathedral and accommodation as we walked through the trees was stunning. Excellent welcome in the cloisters and made to feel very welcome. Stayed in ‘charity’ room. En-suite as described. As we were staying in a historic building we were not expecting 5 star but the room was comfortable. Only quibble would be that on one of the coldest nights of the year so far there was no extra blankets available. Breakfast was superb. Great choice, fresh and delicious served in the amazing surroundings. We enjoyed relaxing in the common room and plentiful supply of hot drinks, home baking, biscuits and fruit.

indeed worth a visit

Tranquil; air of peace and quite. Certainly worth popping into the cathedral when walking / cycling around the island. Small and not imposing.

A little-known gem
Sep 2019
Beautiful neo-Gothic (Anglican) cathedral, tiny but perfectly formed. Be sure to see the Lady Chapel as well as the main church.

Worth a visit.

Not to be missed. This is so lovely. The peace and quiet is beautiful. Walk up the steps at dusk in the oncoming autumn and you won't get a better feel. The Cathedral is a hidden gem on this wee island. We were lucky to be staying nearby and strolled through the grounds.

Wonderful venue for a family get-together
Sep 2019
We get together with our extended family every few years, and we do that on Millport. We book rooms at the Cathedral, and have a buffet dinner on the Saturday night, taking over the library and the common room. The rooms are comfortable, and the food is always very good. The staff are attentive, and worked hard to make sure that all food preferences (small children, pescetarians, vegetarians, bacon-lovers) were met - which they were, deliciously. Porage as an option, along with cereals, full cooked breakfast buffet and toast with local jams. A great place to stay

Britain's Smallest Working Cathedral!
Sep 2019
There's not much to see in Millport, so it's worth the short walk up the hill from the main street to visit the cathedral. The stained glass windows are beautiful. All in all a great photo opportunity.
