Good place to see how the Founding Fathers lived plus learn about the many men who passed through the Law School. Plus, the admission has been FREE the past few years which is great too.

I came to the House and Law School with a group so our experience might be different than individuals visiting. Our guide, Kate, was amazingly one of my former students! This is not an historic house where you go from room to room seeing period...More

Knew of it from guide books and stopped when passing to take a mini tour. This was well worthwhile as the Litchfield Historical Society representative gave us an overview before we toured the well laid out exhibit rooms.

Free admission. I spent 2.5 hours here. The Schoolhouse building is almost all reproduction and not much of interest there. Probably good site for reenactcments. The Tapping Reeve House had 3 main interpretive areas plus an excellent 15 minute video. The interpretive areas are a...More

Especially with the current Hamilton phenomenon, this is a place most people would enjoy. Tapping Reeve , Aaron Burr's brother in law, is yet another aspect of our country's beginnings.

Thank you for the review! Aaron Burr did not spend much time in Litchfield, but the connection because of Sally Burr is still very strong.

Firstly, I am not a lawyer and have no specific interest in law. This place was like finding a jewel. If you enjoy history, it is a must. The Law School came to be because there were no law schools; prior to this, hopefuls took...More

Wow! What an interesting personal history. We are pleased to hear you enjoyed your visit and made connections. You might enjoy our online database The Ledger, which talks more about individual students and gives insight into their lives. We hope you can visit us again!

One of the rare, unexpected finds in Litchfield, this quaint museum revisits the days when law meant something and old timers actually read briefs about the constitutionality of some cases. A lovely place to visit when you are passing through!
