Great modern art in a manageable layout

If you like modern art then this is a good bet. Not too large so you can stop by for an hour or two and see three or four distinct modern exhibitions. Many times they have art and... read more

The place sits back next to a church and you can drive right past, but it's worth turning around for. The art is truly contemporary, cutting edge and engaging. The museum only has 2 floors in addition to any outside installations. Easy to tour the entire property in about 2 hours.

I have been coming to shows at this museum for years. They do not have a permanent collection. Instead they focus on large and small scale shows of artists who many do not know, even some famous, but all worth seeing and discussing. The current shows include the disassembly of an entire harvester and a set of "proposals" for art... More

I went to visit this on my way but it was too small, poorly signposted, faced with three large covered items in the front lawn ?trees or ?sculptures, the car park was poorly signed too and was not sure if the parking belonged to the museum or not, was not sure if it was open or closed, no sign to... We did not expect that this small town would have a contemporary art museum of this caliber. Apparently the foundation chose to get rid of it's permanent collection and move to featuring a small number of artists whom they present for a period of time. The offering reminded us of the Hamburger Bahnhof Museum in Berlin (Germany.) We were treated... More

Great exhibit on art in industrial parts. Wonderful display in a great setting. Definitely a place to return to. I try to attend the welcome receptions.

We originally wanted to go into New York during a family visit to Connecticut, bit found the length of time and expense to travel to an NYC art museum to be extraordinary. We went to two local museums instead. The Aldrich was memorable, had paintings that inspired my child, family projects to allow some art experience, and was accessible for... More

Lovers of art in the Hudson Valley and Connecticut have lots of galleries and museums to visit, but not many devoted exclusively to contemporary art. The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, located in a stunning architectural gem on Main Street in beautiful Ridgefield, CT is one of the few that specializes in works by living artists. Exhibitions change every six months... More

Uniqiue, intimate and interesting. This is more extensive gallery feeling, but a welcome size for museum. I've been here before, and am impressed by the initiative and works by the curator. The building itself should not be overlooked as part and parcel of the visit. Nicely done, and worth a quarterly visit.

Over the years, we have often visited this very handsome museum because we are curious about current art and artists. The Aldrich Museum shows such interesting aspects of the arts: the artists and their work are not yet world famous, but what they offer is imaginative and different: we found that we don't necessarily like all that they propose, but...
