In my opinion, the best thing about this place is its reachability for sunrise/sunset, which is the most recommended time to be there, especially for Photos. It takes you less than 15 mins from the most accommodations in Khuzir to get there y feet.

Beautiful view and nice to sit and watch the sunset there. It is close to the centre and each to reach. Only need max an hour there.

It's a beautiful rock with red colouring (from some local lichen) that looks different from the lake/ice and from the Olkhon island. It's a holy place for local shamanists, so don't climb on the rock itself and leave some sweets for local spirits. We visited it when the lake Baikal was frozen and it was wonderful!

Place to stay for more days! Rocks are said not to be climbed eventhough some people climb it to make selfies. Island offers so many opportunities for active holiday. View on the Shamanka is perfect!

Just freaking visit this place if you're on Olkhon island - no RAGRETS! You get a great view of the lake and there are multiple beaches to explore. The only thing is that toilets are scarce. But be warned - the climb... Well... ITSSSS THE CLIMBBBBBB.....!!!

It's just a rock till you attempt to climb it all the way. The rock has beautiful handholds and footholds so it's not so dangerous and yet feels like a bold attempt and very exciting to have climbed all the way. The view of the Baikal is amazing of course, everywhere around. The sunset leaves the sky in gorgeous colours.

On Olkhon there is a lot of "shaman history" going on and the stories are nice and intersting. Its OK if you know about it and are ready to go on this journey, otherwise its a nice rock on a nice landscape on a special and famous lake. It was a part of a daytrip I could recommend and would... Shamanka rock is located in Khuzhir village in the central part of Olkhon Island on Lake Baikal. One of the most energetic place where local Shamans still carry out their rituals. If you are lucky you will be able to see ceremony by the locals at the 13 polls which are covered with colorful stripes, symbolizing the most powerful family... More
