One of the most beautiful places I visited in Florianopolis. On a sunny day, the photos look very beautiful! Access can be made by a small beach next to the fort or through a small parking lot on the access road to the place.

This is one of the old fortress build during the first Portuguese settlement in the Island of Florianópolis - formerly known as Desterro. Though the place is mostly well kept, and have signs explaining the history as well as displays of old cutlery and army itens, the explanations can only be seen in Portuguese. We're in vacation and florianopolis is a great place for it. Nice beaches, some historical visits, lots of shrimps (lots) and kind people. We're staying at the north side of the island and hope to visit Lagoa da conceição as well to practice some sand board :).

It is such a historical place! And when you are up there you have a great view! I liked visiting there. After visiting the fortaleza, we accessed the beach that is next to it. It was so nice! You can pay a visit to that beach and have a cold drink in one of these beach restaurants :)

not a bad destination to walk along the beach too. Purchase a juice on the way up and come down in the fishing village on the west side.

The Fortress is a nice place to visit specially if you have children, so you can teach some history to them. The view is very nice, but the fortress itself it's an ordinary Fortress as any other in Brazil, and there is no big history behind it as it hasn't been properly used for war or anything else.
