We went there on a weekend and it was somewhat busy. The views are spectacular and I felt safe. You are still near town but have the feeling of being secluded. Many people bring their dogs for walks as well. You will see quite a variety of people there. Easy parking.

Beautiful roughly 5 mile loop around the reservoir. Close proximity to town but far enough away to enjoy nature and its relaxing properties. A seasonal favorite. Beautiful views of downtown Hartford on the right day as well.

Strolling, hiking, bicycling, great views, no crowds, relax. There is no bad season, no bad views. Anytime is the right time to visit. Bring lunch or just absorb the views. My favorite pastime.

I have been running, walking and snowshoeing the reservoir on route 44 for 42 years and I never tire of the beautiful scenic views, friendly people and overall safety. Great little nooks and crannies to eat your lunch, read a book or make out with your first boyfriend (lol!). Not a fan, politically, of the MDC which manages the property... More

Easy parking at the MDC off of Farmington Ave, and a short, hilly run around the lakes makes this a great venue. The paths are usually clear as there are always walkers going through there. approx 3.5-4 mile loop.

Whether we are walking or running, there is always a great community feeling when at the reservoir. The whole area is well maintained and has beautiful views. Parking is amble. This is a very valuable community resource and a great place for active people and those who want to increase their activity. All are welcome here.

There are so many great things to say about this place. To start, there are countless trails and paved paths to choose from! The walk is challenging in length (especially if doing more than one lap- or running) and the scenic views are beautiful. I recommend making this part of your exercise routine- you will hardly notice and will love... More

Fall is a great time to walk through the reservoir. I have been on most of the trails either walking or biking. I have going to the reservoir since 1959 and still take the time to walk the trails.

Beautiful setting for an easy to moderate walk or bike ride. It's quiet, has a lovely pond, and is one of my favorite spots to walk alone, with a dog or with friends.
