Our family just returned from a 6 day stay at Bear Trap Dunes. We left a dat early. Although we very much enjoyed our time on the beach as a family, we did NOT enjoy our experience at Bear Trap Dunes. When we arrived, we purchased pins ($50 each pin) for the 6 of us. These pins were to allow us to use the pools/shuttle and other amenities. Our home was located directly across from a pool (which is why we chose to rent this home). We attempted to use the pool on one occasion, and as I began to put my foot in the water, an employee charged over to me and said, "Get out!" I had no idea why he would say that, and he followed up with "This pool is for owners ONLY. You need to get out NOW." I was confused and then explained that we had spent $300 to use the pool/shuttle and that the woman that sold us the pins told us that this pool was only open until 7 PM and that we could use it. He then said I have no idea why in the Hell she would say that. You need to leave NOW. So, we left.
We attempted the shuttle a couple of times, but after a very bad experience, we drove ourselves to the beach each day. We waited for 50 minutes for a shuttle and when it finally arrived and we got on, it was incredibly hot. The driver had no air conditioning turned on or a radio. It was quiet and HOT. I politely asked him, multiple times, if he could turn on the air conditioning. He refused to acknowledge me. I had my 2 month old grandson on the bus and he was sweating (as all of us were) and crying. It was AWFUL. We travel quite frequently, and I have a high tolerance for things that don't always go as planned, but this place was just ridiculous. It's dated, not convenient to the beach and you can't use the pool. I would NOT RECOMMEND this place to anyone. There are tons of options for families to stay at Bethany Beach, so please choose another location for your vacation. This place DOES NOT LIKE RENTERS. You will be taken advantage of and treated like a low class citizen.

Currently staying here and not a great experience. Of course we used Vacasa for our booking and everything started ok. Halfway through our stay the AC went out making most of the bedrooms unlivable. Vacasa is just about helpless as they basically refuse to do anything besides “leaving a voicemail” on the operations manager’s phone. Still not fixed. It’s over 90 degrees and the house is miserable.

Steer clear of Vacasa rentals, based upon the lack of response from them, they care about collecting their fees and have desire resolving issues with uninhabitable units.

Are at the restaurant after a golf lesson today. Both my wife and I had the vege panini. Terrible sandwich, take it off the menu. Cold vegetables, humus that was terrible. Just a bad sandwich for $14 each, total $28. Could have thrown that money away.

Grounds were pristine and green rolled true. Staff were more than accommodating. Played 36 holes on 2 of 3 9 hole courses. Would rank one of my top course I’ve ever played….including one US Open track.

Look forward to returning.

Golf course good Tees Fairways Greens good. Bunkers terrible no maintenance! Pro shop staff less than friendly. Outside staff good. Golf priced about right considering the area. Definitely not a must play course in my opinion!

This place looked great in pictures but was much different in person. The course was in ok condition but just off the fairway was like hitting out of a really thick deep shag carpeting. With sand traps and deep bunkers on all the holes it can make for a frustrating day for less experienced golfers in your group. Finally, we didn’t see the drink/snack cart until 17.

Thank you for the review and feedback. Overall feedback on the conditions of the course have been extremely positive this year so we're sorry to hear you had a negative experience. Also we have followed up with our food and beverage team to make sure that no one has this beverage cart experience. Thank you, let us know if you would be interested in playing again next you're in the area.

Have played here for many years and always liked the friendly staff and course. Unfortunately, the condition of the course has gone down hill. There were a lot of bare patches and weeds around the green and right off the fairway. The greens are being taken over by some other form of grass. They used to be pretty fast with a lot of break - not anymore. Side hill putts barely break and all greens are slow. That would be okay if they charged $85 - $90, not the $120 they gouged us for. Apparently, the membership base has grown to the point that they can overcharge non-members but for the money there are far better options.

My friends and I played Bear Trap 9/21/18 - unfortunately the course was in very poor condition. We played another course nearby the next day and that course was in very good condition. My friends all agreed that we would not be eager to play Bear Trap again.

We rent often (and used to own) at this resort. There are a range of properties available for rent through a realty company or on hosted sites like VRBO. We love the shuttle to the beach, two pools and diversions for kids. The grounds are well maintained and get you away from the crowds and bustle of the boardwalk.
