Quaint area to walk

Walked through the area this evening. I was playing Pokemon Go but there are restaurants, bar, ice cream shop and just a nice area to walk by the water.

This attraction is very interesting. We enjoyed the living history tour that tells the story of the officers and enlisted men. The tours are quite specialized so we heard very little about the prisoners. Plan to spend many hours there and take multiple tours if you want to learn all aspects of this fort. Also - they aren't kidding! There... More

Impressive fortress on Pea Patch island which you access via an inexpensive, short boat ride on the Delaware River about 45 miles from Philadelphia. Friendly staff and informative free tours (guided or self) and exhibits. History tours, cannon, musket blacksmith demos. Extra bonus is a short tour and chance to see endangered brown bats that make this place home. If... More

This state park features an old fort and grounds that were used to as a POW camp for confederates captured in the latter part of the war. This place has been featured on several ghost hunter shows and is a true historical gem. For 12$, you get a ride on a ferry to the island. You can also ride the... More

Take a 12.00/10 minute round trip ferry from Pennsville to Pea Island . Tour takes about an 1 1/2 . No eatery on site. Admission is free. Eat before trip or after. Local eateries are in Pennsville.

The fort sits in the middle of the Delaware river and served as a prison during the US civil war. They often have living history days which are the best. But even if all the reenactors aren't there it's a magnificent fort and the wildlife walk around the island is fun.

The living history play acting of union soldiers processing some new Confederate soldiers was entertaining and made it more interesting. it was educational to walk around and talk to the reenactors stationed at various places and learn how much a laundress, a cook, and soldiers and officers got paid and what kind of work load they had. The firing of... More

Enjoyed our visit to this state park. the nice little ferry ride was enjoyable. We happened to go on a weekend that had reenactments which made the visit even more enjoyable. Even though it was extremely hot that day, I still enjoyed the visit

You have to take a ferry out (you can reserve tickets), which a great was to get a feel for the place and location. The park staff gives a like overview. Character actor tell you about different parts of the fort. Good afternoon or morning trip. Don't go to near closing, give yourself plenty of time.
