Listed as an historic museum black smithing forge, but really. The building (built by the owner in the late 80s) was built to look old. It is hardly a museum and the owner will barely speak to you. He just sits and ignores you standing there. You can't walk around and look at anything and he doesn't demonstrate anything. He... More

A really neat place to visit. Reminds me of what a black smith shop of years gone by would look like. Not always open but when it is make sure to stop by and gaze st all that iron wonder!

A lot of cool items to see. My wife purchase some one of a kind hooks at a great price. Spent some time speaking to the blacksmith about a project he was working on. If your into buying tools when tools were made with pride this is the place for you.

Well, whilst we were wandering around Lewes, trying to burn off calories gained from a beaut lunch. We came across the Forge, a good deal of "stuff" on display; but, even having lingered for 10+ minutes nobody fronted to ask if we were interested in any of the "items". There was a wrench that did take Diane's eye; needing one... More

I'm a blacksmith and I was visiting Lewes while on a break from a nearby blacksmithing conference, so I couldn't very well pass up John's forge. The best thing about it is that it is first and foremost a working forge. Williamsbirg is a working forge, but its priority is interpretation for tourists. Preservation Forge's interior ain't pretty (Except to... More

My husband and I have been into Lewes several times & have never seen this place open. However, the other day we noticed the doors were wide open & we couldn't help but take a peek. At the time we arrived, there was an older gentleman speaking with another visitor. He never took a moment to greet us OR ask... More
