The Nature Center, maintained by the Delaware Nature Society, is just a few miles west of Milford. It is a wonderful place to visit and get out in nature on the well maintained hiking trails through 100 acres of pine forest, restored meadows and wetlands. It is a great place for children to learn about the natural world. There is... More

For an advanced trail hiker these trails are short and relatively basic. However they are very well maintained, and still a perfect spot to take in nature! Wooded areas, small ponds, fields, and farm land. Frogs, squirrels, LOTS of dragon flies, even a friendly cat. Inside you can find a more educational experience. They have events at Abbotts Mill Pong-... More

I recently visited Abbott's Mill, near Milford, DE, in part to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Abbott's Mill Nature Center, along with the restoration of the Mill. The Mill is located across the road from a manmade millpond which has a small dam that at one time powered the mill operation, and continues to do so today on special... More

The nature center is a wonderful place to share time with nature and with your family. My two granddaughters have enjoyed making fairy houses in the woods after a summer program about our local surroundings. The center offers many school groups a chance to learn about our world and our place in it

We pulled into the center and one of the staff immediately told us where the best hiking and biking trails were. We ended up having time to do the trails around the mill and out into some of the woods. They were well marked and maintained. It was a lovely visit and the staff is extremely helpful! The interactive area... More

From taking courses here, to being on the trail and trying seining, this is a GREAT place to relish in what Delaware has to offer. Check here regularly for classes, for appreciating the ecosystems we have in DE, and a field trip to remind individuals how important the state is that we have here in Delaware!

The mill tour on third Saturday of every month includes a great opportunity to see and feel a working mill. Get there at 2pm, the tour lasts about an hour. Very informative, an amazing look into history.

As we were there on a slow day, we had the naturalist to ourselves for a while, and she shared a good deal of information with us following our walk on one of the shorter trails. The mill wasn't open. They open it the third Saturday of every month. We'll definitely return the next time we're in Milford.

I walked the trails. This is a stop on the Outdoor Delaware discovery trail and the Historical Delaware Discovery Trail. Completing these trails earns prizes through their tourism bureau.

Wonderful local spot with a working mill, newly built raised, handicapped accessible paths along the stream, and a lovely pond. Walking trails are peaceful.
