I took tropic star twice to Cayo Costa day trips. Both captains were knowledgeable about the area and history. Twice I was ferried one leg of the trip by a smaller boat than the tropic star boat itself. If you get a chance, take this option. You get to the island in half the time. What prevents a five star... Upon boarding the ferry we had the captain yelling at us that we needed to be seated. They had piled everyones stuff on the back seats and I didnt feel, being a paying customer, that I should have to move others belonging to have a place to sit. So the captain continued on about how we needed to sit and... More

We took the Tropic Star boat to Cabbage Key, enjoyed a nice lunch, then on to Cayo Costa State Park, where we enjoyed a beautiful beach. Captain Rick provided an interesting commentary as we motored across the beautiful water towards our destinations. Cayo Costa provided an easy tram between the boat dock and the beach, although some of our group... More

We took a Tropic Star ferry to Caya Costa State Park. Captain Norm and Captain Joe made the hour long trip fascinating by talking about local history including everything from the Native American Calusa tribe to pirates! They did a fantastic job and answered lots of questions. I highly recommend making time for this trip!

We took their ferry trip to Cayo Costa for the day. The Captain is quite the joker and is very informative about the area and the stories of the islands along the way.

My wife and I did the Tropicstar cruise that combined a beach trip to Caya Costa and lunch at Cabbage Key. First of all, Tropicstar has several different types of cruises and call them all different names. The Jr Captain Rick and the lady that booked our cruise referred to it as a nature cruise. It was a ferry ride.... More

Took the Tropic Star over to Cabbage Key for lunch then over to Cayo Costa for the beach. Capt Joe and Capt Norm had great stories about the river, the bay, the islands, the Calusa, and pirates. Been traveling with the Tropic Star for nearly 2 decades. Great service!

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Cabbage Key and Cayo Costa! The captains were knowledgeable about the area and we had a great time. We saw dolphins on the way as well.
