This was the nearest preserve to where we were staying, you can see it from the main road but getting to it is a little awkward, need a good sat nav. This is what Cape Coral must have looked like before it was paved with highways and residential developments. A well maintained boardwalk makes for easy walking amidst native mangroves and an assortment of other plantlife, with good signage describing the habitat. We rent a condo very close to the preserve! We have been there twice. We have seen two other Iwo Gima memorials and this one didn't disappoint us. While there we took a long walk on the wood walkway and walked out to the water. Saw a few creatures along the way. Very nice place to spend an afternoon!

Memorial was very touching, but only saw one racoon. No other widelife at all, no gators, hardly any birds. What a shame.

A nice shady little hike starting at the Iowa Jima war memorial as well as other memorials. Continues to a nice boardwalk hike with informative info about old Florida flora and fauna. Nice and easy

Comfortable boardwalks take you through the whole area. Bring water and wear comfortable shoes. Looks like a lot of fun for kayakers.

We enjoyed a nice walk through mangroves and saw fiddler crabs, a raccoon and many birds. The water views were beautiful.
