Greeted by a smiling Southern Belle, the entrance fee is reasonable. Great tour, learned more about plantations than I ever cared to know about. You will definitely feel like you stepped back in time and space. If you've never toured a plantation or if you have and enjoy them, this your place of choice.

We were traveling across Florida from Fort Lauderdale to Tampa and this was a planned stop. A small but nice visitor center. Check their schedule to arrive for their tours. Mostly done on the hour with a break for lunch (1145-1245). In May 1865, Confederate Secretary of State Judah P. Benjamin sheltered in the mansion for a few days during... More

This place is kind of boring to be honest. It's just a house and a field and a couple old broken down Pharma Quitman things. There are some nice picnic tables but it closes at sundown.

Went with some family to the Christmas open house tour and reenactment. It is a very fun event, they were making molasses, had tent camped period dressed soldiers, activities, sale and all were dressed for occasion and good historical tour and national site. Has picnic space also and a museum. They also have other community events like car shows, and... More

The docent we had for our tour was outstanding. She was incredibly informed about the history of the mansion and its owner. There is a small museum in the visitor's center, and the house restored with items of the time period. She also recommended a restaurant for us which we loved, and she told us about Historic Spanish Point which... More

The mansion is only open Thursday through Friday, and this was the third time we tried to visit. This time we got smart and checked the website for the hours. Honestly, it was sort of a closure thing, and we weren't expecting a thing. Robert, the tour guide/State Park Officer was the best surprise. We have toured the country and... More

I saw the sign on I-75 and stopped after a visit to the outlet mall. There isn't much to see, but it's quiet and peaceful. A nice relaxing stop! Would be great for a picnic.

What a charming place. We arrived in the early afternoon of Sunday November 13th. We decided to take part in a docent guided tour . Our guide (an extremely smart gentleman) took us around the building whilst telling us about the Mansion's past occupants and it's colourful history. He answered many questions on all aspects of life at the plantation.... More

Billed as the only surviving sugar plantation and mansion in South Florida, it is a fascinating step into the past - at least I found it so. While it is free to enter and wander around ( and there are picnic tables available) there are guided tours available from Thursday through Monday and it is DEFINITELY worth the $6 per... More

If you are in the area and have an hour to spare it is certainly worth a visit. The guide was extremely interesting and it was certainly worth the $6 for the tour.
