The visitor center is a good place for information on boat tours. Be wary of alligators wandering the boat ramps and parking lots.

Compared to other ranger stations the advice was a bit lacklustre. Boat trips downstairs are separate but beware, no refunds even if weather is awful and, as in our case, an official advisory for boats our size not to go out. Captain was downright rude...More

We enjoyed wandering around the visitor center while waiting for our boat tour. They had interesting exhibits and my younger son completed the junior ranger badge program. The park ranger was very informative and very helpful! Glad we stopped by!

We had a blast at the Gulf coast center! We got to do two different type of rides, one was the manatee watch, which was extremely nice! We saw so many dolphins and a couple of manatees. It was a nice view and our captains...More

You have a choice of "bigger" boats or a smaller 6 seater version. They do different types of trips but the smaller boats can get in where others can't so I took this version and was the only one on board so it really was...More

We booked a mangrove tour and were fortunate to a) be the only two on the boat (so we had our own private tour) and b) have Captain DeWayne as our guide. We passed Osprey nests with fledglings eating fish that their parents had just...More

Bathrooms were very clean and with flush toilets and running water. Easy launch area for kayaks, with little power boat traffic in the area.

Poe / Royal Palms and Shark Valley are the two main entrances to Everglades NP, but this one is right there with it's hand up trying to be recognized. I think people who don't want a boat tour shy away from here and, truthfully, other...More

We enjoyed talking to the park ranger volunteers. They were very informative and answered all of our questions. Never felt rushed. There were some interesting displays.

Great place to spend an hour or two and get immersed in the area's original state as well as the status today.

No, I believe you can arrange canoe trips with the rangers (don't know if they are free). The 2 boat trips you can purchase from the concession store and they each cost around $40. Both of them are great value for money.
