Visit Old Florida, where things are done naturally.San Carlos Bay - Bunche Beach Preserve is a 718 acre beach and mangrove forest preserve with a variety of recreational opportunities to enjoy including: Bird Watching, Canoe/Kayak Launch, Canoeing/Kayaking, Fishing, Hiking (Boardwalk), Nature Study/Photography, Picnic Area, Swimming and Sun Bathing.Step back in time visiting San Carlos Bay- Bunche Beach Preserve, one of the few natural beaches framed with native vegetation and mangrove tunnels to explore by kayak or canoe. In 2010, public beach facilities were completed & opened with ADA parking, restrooms, fishing piers, kayak ramp, picnic tables, and a small boardwalk overlooking Rock Creek. On the white sandy beach, there is an ADA mobie mat that leads to an ADA picnic table. Bunche Beach is not a barrier island beach. It is narrow compared to the beaches on Sanibel and Fort Myers beach. This adds to its unique charm. This Beach is never crowded and easily accessible with no traffic concerns. Kayak and SUP rentals are available through the on site vendor, Kayak Excursions, which also sells bottled water and assorted sundries at the Activities center located just behind the beach.Enjoy a quiet day by the bay.

Heard about this location from a friend and made a point of arriving at sunset time. Parking was available for a reasoable fee and not too long a walk. Sky was cooperating, Temperature was perfect. A few bugs but not too bad!

Disappointing....water is brown, not clear...no sign of life in it..no minnows, no birds. The water rushing into this area from Lake Okeechobee, due to the heavy rains, may contribute to the mix of fresh & salt water destroying the crystal blue water that it once...More

Beautiful nature preserve. Wonderful place to watch the sunset and walk the beach. Can be difficult to find parking during peak hours.

This is a must go beach. Warm water. Soft sand. Trees for shade. On the downside parking by pay meter. Porta potty is a long walk but at least they have one.

We went to see shore birds and the sunset. The day we were there, we didn’t see many birds. It’s a nice beach with one picnic table. Lots of people arrive to watch the sunset. Parking is plentiful, but needed for the crowds.

Plenty of shells, which the kids loved. Didn't get in the water, so can't comment on snorkeling.

Definitely not. It used to be some time ago but the Sheriff patrols have stopped that and it is a regular beach for walking and sunbathing. It is very safe !
