My husband and I have been driving past this center for a couple of years now and decided to finally make time to see it. There is plenty of parking. The signage to find the reception counter could be marked better. Once inside, you pay your fee ($10 for adults) and you get a wrist band (although no one bothered... More

The Calusa Center is on the edge of Ft Myers, but you'd think it miles from a city. It's woodsy and tranquil. The Planetarium is excellent. The nature trails are pleasant strolls, but not very exciting. The Center itself has a number of wildlife that you can see up close.

We came here to enjoy nature and learn. They have lots of animals and fish, and they are building a new beautiful bird aviary. They are also working on their paths right now, and are using mostly volunteer help. We enjoyed the planetarium, the walk and the animals. Inexpensive fun time in nature. Something fun to do when not at... More

Planetarium was good and presenter was very knowledgeable. The rest of the nature center was shabby and animal, bird and reptile enclosures were dirty and unkempt. Felt sad about the conditions

Calusa Nature Center & Planetarium is centrally located right off I-75 at the Colonial Blvd exit. It has over 105+ acres site with museum, nature trails, Planetarium, butterfly conservatory, bird aviary, gift shop and picnic areas. Before you enter the museum, you will notice two large alligators around the pound before the museum building and the planetarium. Once inside the... More

Although very condensed it was perfect for the younger group whose attention span is shorter!!! The kids loved it because they saw something new at every turn...

Management response:

Thank you for your review, Kayla. The butterfly population waxes and wanes as new butterflies hatch out of the screened container in the main building. In the planetarium, we actually show three different videos each day preceded by a live introduction to the local night skies, and we change the shows every month. Anyone who wishes to avoid discussion of... More

The Center exceed my expectations! The nature trails are beautiful and well marked. So nice to have this protected area in our city. The staff are fun, knowledgeable, patient with kids, and the presentations are interesting for all ages. We spent our afternoon outdoors and enjoyed seeing the birds of prey. We are looking forward to our visit to see... More

Not necessary for a vacationer. There are a few cages with large birds that were hurt. There is a planetarium for people that have never seen one before. If you have been to one pass on it.
