Overview
More
Heathcote Botanical Gardens consists of an assortment of specialty gardens including a Japanese Garden, Reflection Garden, Herb Garden, Rain-forest Display, Native Plants Garden and a Palm & Cycad Walk. These areas convey an atmosphere of individual garden rooms. Through this type of garden design, you will sense the intimacy of this unique botanical garden. Gracing the areas in between these specialty gardens are borders of flowering shrubs, bulbs, trees, vines and other assorted herbaceous plants. Niches found throughout the garden provide varied micro-climates, which allows the use of a wide variety of plants ranging from those found in Mediterranean climates to the Tropics. Home of the largest public tropical bonsai collection in the U.S. - The James J. Smith Bonsai Gallery, featuring 100 bonsai trees on permanent display. Heathcote's mission is to educate and inspire by providing a place of beauty and a resource for the conservation of our environment.

These beautiful gardens are only a few minutes from my place of employment downtown, so I've had an annual membership for most of the past three years. I'd first visited on a weekend with family that came to the area, but I couldn't wait to...More

Having lived in the Tokyo suburb of Fussa for three years, I can assure you that the quality and extent of Heathcote's bonsai presentation rivals anything I saw in Japan. If you've ever been to Japan, wanted to go to Japan, or were just curious...More

Best bonsai garden we have seen. Enjoyed seeing lots of monarch butterflies, the orchids, and the Japanese garden. Very relaxing place to visit.

This is a very fun place to go and relax. You have a nice trail you can hike on, not far. It has a great selection of Bonsal plaints. Has lots of beautiful plants to wonder through, and take pictures of.

The Bonsai's alone are worth the time spent here. Lovely grounds. Not large but several nice areas. Inexpensive at $8 per person. Free parking. They also have reciprocal admissions with many other gardens. 60-90 minutes will do it. We see botanical gardens everywhere we travel...More

The bonsai plants are amazing. We really enjoyed the time spent here. It is a bit pricey for the time spent, but I had never seen so many bonsai in one area.

Saw the sign on US 1 for Heathcote Botanical Gardens and stopped in on a whim. Boy, were we impressed with this hidden jewel. Neither of us are really bonsai fanciers, but we spent nearly an hour transfixed by the largest group of bonsai we...More

This is a wonderful garden. The number (100+) of bonsai is jaw-dropping and beautiful. This alone is worth the admission price. This a wonderful place to bring children. The Japanese garden is also very good and peaceful. A must see while in Fort Pierce.
