This is a great state park to visit. The beach is a coral beach meaning there isn't a lot of fine sand near the water but more crushed up coral. The coral can be sharp and jagged so water shoes are recommended. We snorkeled while...More

I really like this place because I love walking into history. For anyone that really enjoys Civil War history this is right up your alley. It's very economical too. You can either tour the area on your own or paid $2.50 for a tour guide.

The guided tour was very interesting and educational. It included history about the fort system in general and and the Key's forts in particular. Very well done.

First time in a long time that I have walked around the Fort, there are lots of plaques to explain everything, it's very interesting and a quick visit is all you really need. Great stop on the way to or from the Fort Zachery Taylor...More

The Beach is just ok in comparison of many Florida beaches. If you plan to rent a lounge chair be aware that once you pick your options there is no way to change. Very rude staff. Me and my sister rented 2 lounge chairs and...More

On our recent trip to Key West, we were passing by and decided to take a look at the state park. We were pleasantly surprised that veterans get in free. We toured the fort and took some photos on the beach. Really nice park.

For those who enjoy Civil War history and the history of fortifications, this is an interesting place. Rangers available to explain things. Nice beach adjacent, but rocky.

My review is for the beach only, as we didn't get around to exploring the fort. Came here for the beach twice on our trip, wonderfully secluded and quiet beach with lovely turquoise water. We rented loungers and an umbrella each time, but you could...More

Clean and nice park. Good place to spend a few hours. My only complaint is that the place is hidden, almost no signs. Old enterence is closed now. Barely found the new one.

Sorry, can't help you, but I too enjoyed those lovely trees at Fort Zachery. I'm hoping that lots of places in the Keys come through with out great harm.

Yes lots of parking, but really filled up quickly on the Saturday we were there. A different perspective on the actual fort - you need to take a few minutes to explore the fort. Worth the time. Have fun!
