only accessable by boat or kayak. we paddled out, its about a mile, pulled our kayaks out on the south side of the docks and walked the trails. great place to visit for "history buffs". nice clean, clearly marked walking trails with signs the tell you about the ruins your looking at. Caution, no bathroom, no trash cans, but a... More

We weren't catching anything great from our fishing guide, so he offered to drop us off on the island for a little sightseeing. Glad we stopped because of the history of the area, but did not stay long because of the stifling heat. Wouldn't mind going back in cooler weather when we had a little more time.

We had heard that visiting this island was a must. We kayaked over from the overseas highway and landed at the kayak area. The trails are amazing and the story of the island is a real adventure. We were told that snorkeling was good too, but the seas were too rough at that time. We loved learning about the island... More

Nice island to hike. Quick flat hike. Lots of history to the island. We took our own boat there, but we noticed many kayakers too. Boat dock on the west side of the island. Worth a stop if you are in the area on a boat.

We kayaked out to the park, fun to explore and learn about the history of the island. I would go back and see it again.

The reason we have 4 stars here is because this Key (Cay, but both are pronounced the same) is only accessible by water and the DOCK could use some work. Be careful when you select your spot to tie up. Some of the ladders (the dock is 6/8' above the water) have missing rungs or are in rough shape from... More

We dropped in to waste some time and get some exercise in. Although it was very hot we had fun walking the trail in both directions. We even found two rangers working who helped us identify some trees we had seen earlier in the day. They stopped their work and very happily pulled information up on their phones and showed... More

Access mostly by kayak or canoe, this island is a must see for anyone visiting the Keys. It can be accessed on the south side of the island by boat, or on the west and north sides by kayak or canoe. Located near Robbie's Marina in Islamorada. A lot of history here.

We rented kayaks at Robbie's for an easy and short paddle out to Indian Key. We had a great time checking out the underwater plants on the ocean floor that is not far beneath the boats on this shallow ride. Make sure to wear polarized sun glasses so that you can see as much as possible under the water as... More
