When we first came in March 2012, we were enchanted that a municipal beach could be so beautiful, free and not overcrowded. It's currently closed for hurricane cleanup, but when it's open there are comfortable changing facilities and restrooms as well as the beautiful, white...More

The place is a mess. It’s covered with debris and piles of open ended cement. There is a small place at the very end that is not cordoned off and some people were able to get near the water. I hope it can be repaired...More

I've reviewed Sombrero Beach previously, doing post-Irma update. It was a wonderful beach and park, but now there almost nothing left - the recreation part is wrecked and there's only a sliver of beach open at the inlet, not the ocean. Repair work is clearly...More

This review is as if it was fully open. When we went it was mostly still closed. Once open it will have bathrooms, nice areas and more. Can’t wait for that!

The beach got destroyed during hurricane Irma. However, there is a small section you can still access at the very end of the road. Sombrero has always been one of our family’s favorite destinations when in Marathon. I have no doubt it will be back...More

Although the hurricane has left its mark, this beach has a beautiful view, playground and plenty of water access. But if you are going very soon be aware the beach is temporarily closed while they do clean up. Go see the beach!

This was a small buy lovely beach in Marathon. We were even able to watch manatees swim by the coral. The beach was clean and had great amenities. Nothing can beat the sunset!

Free parking, right next to the beautiful beach. You can walk around the corner and enjoy the different landscape views..

Yes most of the beach is covered in feet of sand, they have bulldozing to clean up but have a long way to go. There is a small area open now

No. There are no docks. There are several areas along the coast, close to Sombrero beach where you can dock, but not on the beach itself.
