The "Pass", as locals refer to it, was created by a hurricane on September 27, 1848. A pirate, John Levique, made the first passage through the newly created pass. Hence the name, Johns Pass. Located on the waterfront at Johns Pass, this quaint turn-of-the-century fishing village is Pinellas County's #1 tourist attraction. Over one hundred merchants inhabit the Village with unique retail shopping, a variety of restaurants, the local fishing fleet, dolphin watching and shelling tours, boat rentals, parasailing and jet skiing.

We recently visited Johns Pass with friends upon their recommendations. What fun! Many parking attendants were there to help us park as well as ask questions and give information. We watched as fishing boats brought in their days catch. There were many eateries along the boardwalk or places to duck in for a drink. There were many shops where you... More

We walked around a bit and had lunch at one of the many restaurants here. Everyone is basically the same - you will find something you like if you enjoy fried fish, which is overpriced. The menus displayed by the door may as well all have been printed together and swap out the title. Not very interesting. As for the... More

Thanks for stopping by John's Pass as well as leaving a review. The Pass is touristy [all of the beaches collectively is a tourist destination], as you indicate. It's a great place to take in the scenery in a family friendly atmosphere where we have something for everyone: shopping, dining and entertainment. Great spot to burn some time on your... More

At Johns Pass you can spend hours wandering thru stores, watch the fisherman clean the catch of the day. Enjoy some cold beverages and just relax strolling along.

I've been coming to Maideira Beach for over ten years now and I always spend lots of time at John's Pass. There are great restaurants, in every price range; entertainment and friends to be made. The shops are typical beachy shops. I'm not a big shopper. You can walk along the water's edge. Boat trips are available, too. Lots to... More

Some interesting (but pricey) unique shops and restaurants, right on the waterfront and opposite a beach. The downside is the price of the parking, which should be free if visitors are to be encouraged. Good for a couple of hours stroll around and taking in the views.

I don't see the appeal here. The shops had a lot of the same things. There was some cute ocean inspired jewelry and home decor. It was super crowded but it's spring break now. Parking was impossible so we had to use the garage which was charged per 20 minutes. There was a line to leave the garage that took... More

Thanks for stopping by the Pass. Spring break months [March/April] and summer [June - August] are usually very busy, so if crowds aren't your thing, I would suggest different months - especially October - November - perfect temps and smaller crowds. See you again soon! More

In John's Pass anyone can find something to make them happy. Souvenier shops, clothing, sunglasses, bars with music, chain restaurants, local restaurants, charters and rentals, it's all available steps from Madeira Beach.

After a day at the beach, this is a fun place to stop to eat and shop. Lots of restaurants and unique shops, as well as tourist stores for T-shirts and souvenirs. We had drinks and dinner at The Hut, a fun place with live music, right on the water. I also found the chocolate covered Key Lime Pie on... More

After living in Tampa for many years, we finally made a stop through John's Pass on a recent trip to St. Pete Beach. Super cute place with lots of tourist shops and restaurants - definitely worth an afternoon visit if you're near the area. It was chilly the evening we visited but on a warmer day, there's ice cream about... More
