The Jewish Museum of Florida-FIU is the only Museum dedicated to telling...

The Jewish Museum of Florida-FIU is the only Museum dedicated to telling the story of 250 years of Florida Jewish heritage, arts and culture. The museum is housed in two adjacent lovingly restored historic buildings, at 301 Washington Avenue on South Beach, that were once synagogues for Miami Beach's first Jewish congregation. The museum's focal point is its core exhibit, "MOSAIC: Jewish Life in Florida, 1763 to Present" and its temporary history and art exhibits that change periodically. A Collections and Research Center, several films, Timeline Wall of Jewish history, museum Store filled with unique items and Bessie's Bistro complete the experience for visitors of all ages and backgrounds. The museum is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums.

I am so glad that we found the time to visit this wonderful museum. I especially liked the current exhibit :"Hot Couture: Florida Jews on the Fashion Scene, 1800s to Today" I had always thought of New York City in terms of the history of fashion and had no idea of its history in Florida. The exhibit is beautifully curated... More

My friend and I were the only 2 visitors when we stopped here to visit. We had a personal one on one tour guide who took us through the museum. We only had one hour to spend but could have stayed much longer because it was so interesting.

Howard was our tour guide for the Walking Tour of Jewish Miami Beach. The tour was a little over 90 minutes and my wife and I felt the time passed very quickly. Howard was very knowledgeable about the history of the Jews of Miami Beach, the architecture of the area and had many pictures to supplement the information. The tour... More

The museum was rich in history and very informative. We enjoyed the displays and was well worth the visit. We then arranged a Jewish history walking tour of area for the next day which again did not disappoint. Our tour guide was Howard who was knowledgeable, energetic, and entertaining. We highly recommend the museum and the walking tour!

Howard Brayer was our tour guide. He was excellent & very knowledgeable on the history of the Jews from Miami Beach. The Jewish history was so very interesting and Howard's enthusiasm made it 10 times more enjoyable. This was a wonderful day trip. I would highly recommend it. I went with my community's Hadassah Chapter & was delighted.

There is always something interesting going on at this well run museum. The docents are very knowledgeable and helpful. The Jewish community is such a part of Miami, it was great to learn something about their lives here. On certain weeknights, they also offer concerts and recitals in the synagogue next door.

The Jewish Museum of Miami is truly historic. It has been awarded accreditation by the prestigious American Alliance of Museums. Originally two synagogues, they have been restored and converted into an historic museum. It effectively portrays the history of Jews and our culture in Miami. An informative video on a sizable movie screen, traces the history of Jewish immigrants in... More

This museum is very much worth the visit. We were fortunate because there was a special exhibit showing the fashions of a Jewish dress designer who perished in the Holocaust. The actual dresses were recreated from her drawings. Also, there are two synagogues to visit. I would very much recommend it. After your visit walk over to the Big Pinks... More
