Half of the trails are excellent. I strongly suggest taking the ones that go out into the prairie. It irks me that they open so late. I'd prefer to begin hiking at dawn. Have walked right up to the Spanish wild horses, the buffalo are...More

The Florida State Park system sponsors special "geo-caching" sites whereby one can obtain a special "challenge coin" upon finding 40 (of the nearly 70) "hides." This park is ENORMOUS and a great place to hike and bike on nicely maintained dedicated trails, many of which...More

It's a nice weekend get away. I wouldn't go when it's hot as a lot of the trails don't have much shade. Also the wild life don't like to come out when it's hot. We did not see any buffalo!

My ice and visited one evening approximately 1 hour before dark. Got to see wild horses, buffalo, and so many deer we lost count. Truly a beautiful park worth the visit.

We braved the heat and the humidity and survived! We saw wild horses, a few gators and several different species of birds. We went through the north entrance and didn't see as much as we would have like, but will definitely return in the fall...More

yes, the trails were open, but on one we had to turn back after 2 miles because the trail had water on it and we didn't know how deep it was. also we were warned about black water moccasins-which another person spotted on... More
