Long hidden on the fringe of Florida's Gulf coast and overlooked by developers until well into the 1880s, Naples' catalyst for settlement finally arrived forty years later when two rival railroads rolled into town within ten days of each other.

Set in Naples' restored Seaboard Air Line Railway passenger station, the Naples Depot Museum welcomes visitors back to the railroading boom days of the Roaring Twenties and explains how generations of Southwest Floridians used technology and transportation to conquer a vast and seemingly impenetrable frontier.Seminole dugout canoes, a mule wagon, antique swamp buggy, restored rail cars and exciting interactive exhibits tell the story of how trade and travel transformed Naples from a napping village of 300 souls into today's glittering Gulf coast resort.

The Naples Depot Museum is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is conveniently located in downtown Naples.

Great place to come to get out of the heat. Full of history of the area displayed in the former depot. A caboose is sometimes open to view. Great steam train comes into view from one of the rooms which is very fun. If you are going around to learn history of the area, this is a must visit.

This has a great deal of the history of Naples not just a railway depot, someone should get a hold of this museum and develop it in a major site. Naples has a wonderful colourful history and needs to be shown off more, in my opinion.

I stopped here during a work trip to kill a bit of time and get some culture. It's a very nice museum and I thought it was enjoyable. This is definitely a county museum with a lot of local and Florida history, so don't expect to learn much outside of that. The guy manning the desk didn't say anything to... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the museum and it gave us fresh insight into transport and it's development in the area. I would recommend a visit to a very good facility.

Was surprised by the amount of historical items and information. We went for the exhibit on cemeteries, but spent a lot of time learning about local history

This is a nice free little museum that is worth stopping at if you are in Naples. There are several interesting displays inside, train cars outside and the building itself is worth the stop.

Even though admission is free, it's not worth the stop. There are only three rooms of pictures and two antique cars. There are trains on the property but they were locked up for the day.

Has many old bits of Naples history. The artifacts from the trains remind us of the golden age of travel.

My kid loved this cute and small museum! It has a lot of historic information about railroads, maritime, road and air transportation in Naples, including population expansion. The real trains bagons outside are a good experience, because you can enter inside and do your mind travel to the past :)

We weren't sure when we drove up, but once inside things got better. It gave a complete history of the railroad in Naples. It was quite informative... The authentic rail cars outside were nice also.
